Who doesn’t like Everything Bagel Seasoning? It reminds me of those snowy early mornings when I would stop at Tim Hortons on my way to work to grab a hot coffee and a toasted bagel with butter. My favorite was, of course, the freshly made Everything Bagel seasoned with toasted sesame and poppy seeds, coarse salt, garlic, and onion. Everything Bagel Seasoning is also the perfect mix for sprinkling on bread, eggs, avocado toast, roasted vegetables, or stirring into dips for an instant flavor boost. This mix is easy to make in a large batch and keep on hand for whenever you need it.

Making everything bagel seasoning at home gives you complete control over the ingredients, so you can fine-tune the salt, balance the flavors to your liking, and skip the additives often found in store-bought blends. The result is a fresher, more vibrant mix with bold notes of garlic, onion, and nutty seeds that truly stand out. It’s also versatile and budget-friendly. With just a handful of pantry staples, you can create a customizable seasoning that’s far more flavorful than anything you’ll find on the shelf.

Ingredients

  • 3 Tbsp White sesame seeds

  • 2 Tbsp Black sesame seeds

  • 2 Tbsp Poppy seeds

  • 2 Tbsp Dried minced onion

  • 2 Tbsp Dried minced garlic

  • 1-2 tsp Flaky salt (Kosher or Sea salt)

Directions

  • In a small bowl, combine the onion flakes, garlic flakes, sesame seeds, poppy seeds, and salt. That’s all there is to it! If you like, you can lightly toast the sesame and poppy seeds before mixing them in, but I personally prefer the flavor of the raw seeds in this blend. Also, if you plan to use this seasoning on anything that you will bake, skip the toasting step—the seeds will toast as they bake and can easily burn in the oven.
